Shaping Europe’s digital future: Study on copyright and new technologies
This research looks at the creative sectors and how they use new technologies, from a copyright perspective. For example, blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI).
First, it explores the application of new technologies in the management of data linked to copyright-protected content by European creative sectors.
It identifies the challenges of copyright data management in the creative sectors, reviews the role of technology in rights management, licensing and the collection and distribution of remuneration. It identifies ways to raise awareness of the importance of (meta)data and to increase interoperability across sectors.
Furthermore, the study proposes artificial intelligence solutions for the creative sectors, before exploring possible emerging legal issues related to the interaction with the copyright legal framework. It explains that reliance on this technology is increasing.
