The DAMA Marzo de Cine cycle highlights audiovisual works directed and written by women, with Juana Macías, Belén Sánchez-Arévalo, Chelo Loureiro and Carol Rodríguez
The journalists María Guerra and Pepa Blanes, who have selected the titles, will accompany the authors every Thursday in the screening of their feature films and the subsequent discussion.
DAMA, the management entity for audiovisual creators, is celebrating March by screening a selection of recent films directed or written by women at its headquarters, with the goal of reinforcing the message of equality in the audiovisual sector.
Marzo de Cine is the title chosen for this cycle that celebrates female talent and, in addition, offers some of the best Spanish films of the season by their authors and two of the most recognisable voices in Spanish film journalism.
The journalists María Guerra, president of the Asociación de Informadores Cinematográficos de España, and Pepa Blanes, Head of Culture at Cadena Ser, will be in charge of introducing the creators every Thursday, with whom they will hold a discussion after the screening. These talks will then be available on DAMA’s YouTube channel. The journalists have been in charge of choosing the selection of titles that participate in the project.
The creators participating in this initiative are: Juana Macías, director of Fuimos canciones; Belén Sánchez-Arévalo, screenwriter of Josefina; Chelo Loureiro, who directed and co-wrote Valentina. And finally Carol Rodríguez, who will attend the session dedicated to her first feature film, Chavalas.
DAMA thus joins in the celebration of International Women’s Day, in defence of a more diverse audiovisual industry with full equality of opportunities.
