SPANISH CINEMA RETURNS TO OSCAR
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has just announced the nominees for its 92nd edition among which are “Pain and Glory“, Almodóvar last movie, and “Klaus“, by Sergio Pablos.
With “Pain and Glory”, Pedro Almodóvar could get his second Oscar for Best International Film, an award he won in 2000 thanks to “All About My Mother.” In 2003 Talk to her Almodóvar received an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and was nominated for Best Director.
Nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Film is “Klaus”, a classic hand-drawn animated film and Sergio Pablos‘ debut, known for being one of the creators of the “Despicable me” franchise.
The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony, presented by will honor the best films of 2019 and will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California on February 9. That day it will also know if Antonio Banderas, nominated for the Oscar as Best Actor “Pain and Glory” as Salvador Mallo, becomes the third Spanish artist to achieve the Oscar after Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz.
