The Berlinale Co-Production Market has selected a total of 34 projects from 32 countries for its 19th edition. The official selection includes 19 feature film projects, among which is the Spanish production ‘20.000 especies de abejas’, the debut film by DAMA partner Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren. The project was one of those chosen in the seventh edition of ‘DAMA Ayuda’.

The Basque director, who has a lot of experience as a short filmmaker, producer and documentary maker, told us about the production of her first fiction feature film in her ‘DAMA Habla’ meeting, recorded during the last edition of the San Sebastián Festival.

In addition, our member Alauda Ruiz de Azúa‘s debut ‘Cinco lobitos’ will be part of the Panorama section of the Berlinale 2022, where it will have its world premiere.

Over the years, she has received several offers to direct commissioned feature films. But she has waited because, she says, “I needed to have a very strong personal connection to the project”. The author spoke about the film, which will be in cinemas the 20th of May this year, in her ‘DAMA Habla’ interview, which was also recorded in San Sebastián.

For her part, producer and DAMA partner María Del Puy Alvarado will join the Berlinale 2022, as one of this year’s chosen talents in the Berlinale Talents 2022.

This is a multidisciplinary initiative celebrating its twentieth edition this year, bringing together once again the various film professions: acting, photography, directing, distribution, international sales, editing, film criticism, production, production design, screenwriting, sound design, soundtrack composition and marketing promotion.
