DAMA presents the DAMA Ayuda Docus call to promote the development of feature-length documentary films
The competition offers tutorials with leading professionals from the audiovisual sector for the two winning projects.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 9 June.
DAMA is launching the DAMA Ayuda Docus call for entries (#DAMAAAyudaDocus2022) to promote the creation of feature-length documentaries.
This is a new initiative of the entity in support of creation in the audiovisual sector, along the lines of the already consolidated DAMA Ayuda, DAMA Ayuda Series and DAMA Cortos. On this occasion, DAMA focuses on documentaries, with the aim of strengthening and vindicating the uniqueness and specialisation of this non-fiction format. The study Dirigir obras audiovisuales en España: radiografía sociolaboral de la profesión, coordinated by DAMA, reveals that 38.0% of audiovisual creators directed documentaries between 2016 and 2020.
The two winners of this call will participate in the mentoring process of their idea for a feature-length documentary, with the help of renowned professionals. They are María del Puy Alvarado, the director of Malvalanda, Oscar-nominated producer for Madre and El Agente Topo, and Goya-nominated for Anatomía de un Dandy; and Jorge Laplace, screenwriter of Alfred y Anna, 30 años de Oscuridad -both nominated for the Goya Awards-, and 100 Días con la Tata -winner of the Forqué Award for best documentary-, and director of 23 Disparos, Carolina Marín: puedo porque pienso que puedo -for Prime Video- and the documentary series about the band Loco Mía for Movistar Plus+.
Anyone wishing to participate must prepare a feature-length documentary project, including the title, the idea, the synopsis and the memory. A maximum of two authors will sign each idea submitted, which must be original. The deadline for sending all the information to guiones@damautor.es is 9 June 2022, inclusive.
It is not necessary to be a member of the organisation or reside in Spain to participate. Any author of legal age may apply and participate telematically if they are unable to come to the organisation’s headquarters, located in the heart of Madrid’s La Latina district (Gran Vía de San Francisco, 8). More detailed information and the competition rules are available on the DAMA website. They can also be found on their social networks.
The jury will be made up of a representative of the organisation and the two tutors of the competition.
The DAMA Ayuda Docus 2022 winning projects will be announced before 30 June on the DAMA website and on its social networks.
